Travel Essence; WHAT TO DO IN DUBAI FOR EIGHT DAYS- Day. 2
2 - DUBAI MUSEUM
This is the perfect place to visit as a family where you can understand the Dubai today vs ancient Dubai. The Dubai Museum is certainly a place that brings to life what is of the past as it was built in the Al Fahidi Fort in 1787 which was known to be one of the oldest buildings in Dubai. The fact that Dubai was just a desert land, went through its hardships with the kings and today is known for its buildings and lavish lifestyle and culture; it is represented beautifully at the Museum. I would say visiting in November while celebrating their 45th Anniversary was definitely the perfect trip!
The culture of Dubai is not just made up of sky scrapers and their ultimate lavish lifestyle; but all of this was developed from the success of Dubai's oil, pearl and sea trade and the trade continues to flourish today. As mentioned before the Dubai Museum brings the Ancient Dubai to life- you understand their traditional way of life, the style of clothing for the women and men, the traditional games the children played and their education..
Its amazing to delve into the history and culture of Dubai so make sure you take the time out to visit.
*The Gold Souk and the Dubai Museum are not too far away from each other on an Abra boat ride (1 Dirham) which is about a ten minutes boat ride. I would recommend a relaxing journey on the Abra in the traditional area of Deira to the Dubai Museum.
TOP TIP: Imagine yourself living in the ancient Dubai era and how they used to live and you will definitely enjoy the museum experience !
